WOYODEV Inaugurated as one of the 22-Member Kwara State Adolescent Health Technical Working Group (TWG) to strengthen youth-responsive services.
Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Women Environment and Youth Development Initiative (WOYODEV) is honoured to announce that we have been inaugurated as a member of the 22-member State Technical Working Group (TWG) on Adolescent Health in Kwara State under the EU-SARAH / EU Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health programme.
The TWG inauguration and capacity-building workshop — convened by the Kwara State Ministry of Health — brought together representatives from all Local Government Areas (LGAs), government agencies, development partners and civil society organisations to strengthen coordination and planning for adolescent-responsive health services across the state. WOYODEV will serve on the TWG as a civil society representative, contributing technical expertise in youth development, gender equality and community engagement.
The inauguration reaffirms Kwara State’s commitment to improving the health, wellbeing and development of adolescents, aligning state-level efforts with the EU-supported SARAH programme that aims to expand access to quality reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health services. The EU-SARAH initiative has been rolled out in Kwara as part of a broader effort to strengthen adolescent and reproductive health services in selected Nigerian states.
During the ceremony and accompanying sessions, TWG members reviewed priority areas and action points including:
Strengthening adolescent-friendly health systems and youth-friendly service delivery;
Improving coordination between state and LGA health structures and partners;
Expanding adolescents’ access to sexual and reproductive health services, mental health support and health education;
Promoting digital safety, protection from violence and community-led demand generation; and
Using data-driven planning and regular monitoring to inform service delivery and advocacy.
WOYODEV reaffirms its commitment to working collaboratively with the Ministry of Health, development partners and communities to ensure that adolescents — especially girls and other marginalised young people — have safe, inclusive and high-quality health services and opportunities to thrive. We will support the TWG through evidence-based advocacy, community outreach, youth engagement and capacity-building activities across Kwara’s LGAs.
This inauguration marks an important step in building a healthier, safer and more equitable future for young people across Kwara State. WOYODEV looks forward to active participation in the TWG, contributing to planning, implementation, and continuous advocacy for adolescent health priorities.
